Dr. Sola Aoun Bahous, a distinguished clinician, educator, and leader, was appointed Dean of the Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury School of Medicine at the Lebanese American University (LAU) on April 1, 2022. She is a highly respected physician and professor with significant expertise in hypertension management and research. Dr. Aoun Bahous holds an MD, diplomas in Internal Medicine and Nephrology, a PhD in Cardiovascular Pharmacology from Pierre and Marie Curie University, and a Master’s in Health Professions Education from the University of Illinois. Her academic career began at Balamand University in 2001, where she filled various roles related to pharmacology and hypertension care. In 2008, she joined the Lebanese American University, contributing to the development of curricula and clinical programs, and held leadership positions including Assistant and Associate Dean. Dr. Aoun Bahous's research focuses on blood pressure regulation and hypertension, she has made significant contributions through publications and education efforts, and she has authored numerous publications and book chapters. Dr. Aoun Bahous is actively involved in global professional organizations and serves on the International Advisory Committee on Artificial Intelligence. Her leadership in hypertension research and education has established her as a prominent figure in the field.
